You may want to zoom into the screen to see the text better. Here are a few ways to adjust these settings based on the device you are using.

• On Windows, press the Windows key and plus sign (+) at the same time to zoom in. You can also use the 鈥淢agnifier鈥� application under 鈥淎ccessories鈥�.
• On Mac, go to 鈥淪ystem Preferences鈥�, open 鈥淯niversal Access鈥� and select the 鈥淪eeing鈥� tab. Check the box under 鈥淶oom鈥� to 鈥淥n鈥�.
• Apple device, tap 鈥淪ettings鈥�, then 鈥淕eneral鈥�, then 鈥淎ccessibility鈥�. Tap the 鈥淶oom鈥� button and toggle it 鈥淥n鈥�.
• Another trick is to use 鈥淐trl鈥� (鈥淐md鈥� on Mac) plus the plus (+) or minus (-) keys when you鈥檙e in a web browser.

You may want to change the colors or fonts to see words more clearly. Most major web browsers have options to do this:

• In Internet Explorer, go to 鈥淭ools鈥�, then 鈥淚nternet Options鈥�, on to 鈥淕eneral鈥�. From here, select 鈥淐olors, Fonts, or Accessibility鈥�.
• In Mozilla Firefox, choose 鈥淥ptions鈥�, then 鈥淐ontent鈥�, then finally 鈥淔onts & Colors鈥�.
• In Safari, select 鈥淧references鈥�, 鈥淎ppearance鈥� tab, and then hit the 鈥淪elect鈥︹�� button next to the font fields.
• In Chrome, go to 鈥淧references鈥�, activate the 鈥淪how advanced settings鈥� link, go to the 鈥淲eb content鈥� heading and change the 鈥淔ont size鈥�, 鈥淐ustomize fonts鈥� in other ways, or set default 鈥淧age zoom鈥�.

Screen readers are text-to-speech software that allow people to read and interact with content in different ways. Many people who cannot perceive what is on the screen will use them to allow audible access to web content.

The college has this technology available to its students, staff and faculty. There are also some free options available including NVDA for Windows and VoiceOver for Mac. Screen readers accept input in a variety of ways, but one of the most common forms is through your keyboard. By pressing the down arrow in JAWS, for example, you are able to navigate through items on the page. JAWS will also accept Braille input.
